Turbocharged Hybrid power in the 2022 Toyota Tundra

The all-new Tundra gets two engines this year. The first one is a twin turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 with an output of 389 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. The second one gets a boost thanks to an electric motor lodged between the engine and the transmission. This i-FORCE MAX is paired with a 288V nickel-metal battery. The result is rather impressive, with 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft, all of which is available at 2,400 rpm. An all-new 10-speed automatic is paired with both powertrains.

The Ram’s engines haven’t seen an update in a long time. The lineup has a V6, a V8 and diesel engines that are inefficient. And you won’t see any turbochargers or electrification, that is why owning a Ram will cost you more. Even if the Tundra’s engines are more efficient thanks to their displacement, the Tundra still gets a very competitive 12,000 lb towing capacity. There are also plenty of special packages available with the Tundra, like the TRD Pro variant which is available with Fox Racing shock absorbers.
