Toyota's RAV4 range is without a doubt the most varied and efficient in the category. And with the RAV4 Hybrid, environmentally conscious drivers can enjoy everything from the RAV4 in a highly efficient package. The Ford Escape is making a comeback in the hybrid world, with an electrified variant for 2020. Is it competent enough to take on the RAV4 Hybrid? Let’s find out!
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is better suited to our climate
The RAV4 is equipped with all-wheel drive and the Ford Escape Hybrid only offers this critical piece of equipment as an option. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and Toyota's proven Hybrid Synergy Drive system paired with all-wheel drive ensure the RAV4 is ready to take on any challenge the Canadian winter can throw at it. It develops 219 horsepower and can consume as little as 5.8 L/100 km in city driving.
The Ford Escape has complicated lineup of engines that range between 181 hp and 250 hp in terms of power. However, in order to get the same amount of power as the RAV4, one must spend upwards of $44,000, whereas the RAV4 Hybrid starts at $34,689 and is already fully loaded with AWD.
SUV drivers also need to tow, the Toyota RAV4 offers a towing capacity of 1,750 pounds, which is superior to the Ford Escape Hybrid.
More space in the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
The RAV4 Hybrid offers more space for luggage. With 1,059 litres of cargo capacity when filled with passengers, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is more spacious than the Ford Escape, which offers only 865 litres in the same configuration. When the second row is folded down, 1977 litres are available against 1850 litres for the Ford Escape Hybrid.
Technologically, the Toyota RAV4 hybrid takes the lead again, with the most advanced standard safety suit on the market: Toyota Safety Sense. It includes as standard on the entire RAV4 hybrid range, the lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist and Road Edge Detection, the auto High Beam, the Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Bicycle Detection and more.
The 2020 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is an overall better vehicle than the Ford Escape Hybrid and is definitely worth a closer look. You can shop your RAV4 online with us. Our representatives await your call and can answer all your questions.
