2021 Toyota Corolla Apex: A Very Special Corolla

The exciting limited-edition Apex Corolla sedan, based on the SE platform, focuses on handling and aggressive design that make it a true one-of-a-kind Corolla. Toyota's limited run of 150 vehicles is set to impress driving enthusiasts among Toyota fans. Aside from head-turning looks, it features advanced tuning and equipment that re-invents cornering in the Corolla.

Dynamic shifting starts the fun in the 2021 Toyota Corolla SE Apex

The fun starts with a 2.0-litre Dynamic Force Engine that outputs 169 peak horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque. It combines with either a Dynamic Shift CVT (continuously variable transmission) or a 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission (6 iMT). Fuel consumption estimates for the CVT are 7.6/5.8 L/100 km (city/highway). When power is channeled through the iMT, fuel consumption is still an efficient 8.2/6.5 L/100 km.

Models that are equipped with the Dynamic Shift CVT offer a driver-centered experience. This isn't your everyday CVT. Drivers enjoy simulated 10-speed Sequential Shiftmatic steps, a Sport Mode, and—you guessed it—paddle shifters that provide more ownership over acceleration.

About 50 of these models will have the 6-speed intelligent Manual Transmission. Toyota also gives special attention to this equipment with downshift rev-matching control technology, which adjusts engine revolutions during gear changes. This creates a dynamic feel while keeping shifting smooth.

The 2021 Toyota Corolla SE Apex is built to corner

One of the most exciting features of the Toyota Corolla Apex is the custom chassis upgrade. This includes unique shocks and special internal rebound springs that increase damping force. Coil springs lower the Apex by 15.2 mm as the faster spring rate tightens the roll angle and flattens cornering. Other equipment such as stabilizer bars increase agility while diminishing roll angles.

Body styling enhancements complement the drivetrain and chassis upgrades. They are edgy and reflect the driving spirit of the Apex. The sport-tuned exhaust is not offered anywhere else, and the bronze and black exterior colour combination tells everyone that this vehicle is ready for some serious fun.

Inside, the Apex looks and feels as sporty as it does outside, and it also comes with a host of entertainment, comfort and safety features.

The Toyota Corolla SE Apex has an MSRP of $27,300 with a 6-speed manual transmission and $28,300 with a CVT transmission.
