The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has always been a benchmark in the sport utility vehicle segment due to its efficiency, performance, fuel efficiency and versatility. The RAV4 Hybrid was until recently not only the benchmark for hybrid sport utility vehicles, but one of the most popular models in its segment, even compared to traditional gasoline SUVs.
That said, Toyota raised the bar even higher a few months ago with the arrival of the Toyota RAV4 Prime. 302 horsepower, over 60 kilometers of electric range and a tempting starting price. The RAV4 Prime offers everything the RAV4 Hybrid has to offer, but with the ability to do the majority of our trips in electric mode only and therefore without using a single drop of fuel.
The problem is, demand for the RAV4 Prime has skyrocketed. The reality is that the model is so popular that there is a long waiting list across the province (and elsewhere) for the new RAV4 Prime. You have to wait at least a year for a RAV4 Prime if you order today, and that lead time could increase.
This is a reality you see in many manufacturers when a model is popular. The difference is, with Toyota there is a way to get a highly efficient SUV today waiting for the RAV4 Prime.
This model is the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. It offers a hybrid engine with 219 horsepower and an average fuel consumption of 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway. As a result, it is more economical than the RAV4 Prime when the latter's battery is depleted. The RAV4 Prime consumes 5.9 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and 6.5 liters per 100 kilometers on the highway.
So, in the end, the big difference between the RAV4 Hybrid and the RAV4 Prime is the possibility of driving in 100% electric mode in the Prime. However, the Prime must be charged every night to obtain this range. Otherwise, the RAV4 Hybrid and the RAV4 Prime are both spacious, versatile and comfortable. The price of the RAV4 Hybrid is however more affordable.
A solution if you are looking for a 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime
If you're in the market for a Toyota RAV4 Prime but can't find one, why not buy a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid while you wait and put yourself on the waiting list for a Prime? This list, if you are buying a RAV4 Hybrid, doesn't oblige you to do anything. When a Prime is available, you will be notified, and you can then decide whether you want to trade in your RAV4 Hybrid or resell it.
Normally, buying a new vehicle to trade it in for the next 2-3 years is not advisable. But, the RAV4 Hybrid offers one of the best resale values in the industry and is selling very well and for above average in the used market.
It may well be that a few years from now, when a Prime becomes available, you will be able to get the equivalent or even more than you owe on the RAV4 Hybrid. And if you pay cash, the depreciation on your RAV4 Hybrid will be very little.
Come meet us today and learn more about the 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
