It comes in multiple variants, outranking rivals in terms of choice, but also thanks to its spotless reputation and customer satisfaction. It is offered in sedan and hatchback body configurations that aim at giving buyers the best compromises according to their needs.
Here, we take a look at the Toyota Corolla and the Toyota Corolla Hybrid to see which one is best for you.
Powerful and efficient powertrains in the 2023 Toyota Corolla
The Toyota Corolla has always been able to count on superbly reliable powertrains that use only the best in terms of components and technologies. The gas-powered Corolla offers a choice of two engines. The first one is a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre engine that outputs 169 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a continuously variable transmission for optimal efficiency.
The Corolla Sedan uses as little as 7,6 L/100 km in the city and 5,9 L/100 km on the highway. In five-door format, the Corolla uses 7,5 L/100 km in the city and 5,9 L/100 km on the highway.
For performance aficionados, the Corolla also offers a unique GR model that deploys ultimate performance. Armed with a 3-cylinder 1.6-litre turbocharged engine, the GR Corolla delivers no less than 300 horsepower and up to 295 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a sport 6-speed manual gearbox, which channels the power to all four wheels.
Those who want efficiency will love the Corolla Hybrid. It is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a combined output of 138 hp. It is mated to a precisely calibrated continuously variable transmission that contributes to delivering low fuel consumption figures. The results are astonishing. The Corolla Hybrid can consume as little as 4,4 L/100 km in the city and 4,5 L/100 km on the highway.
The 2023 Toyota Corolla is very versatile
The Corolla might be classified as a compact car, but it still offers ample cargo volume. In sedan configurations, the Corolla deploys up to 371 litres of volume in the trunk. If you’re looking for more, the hatchback version delivers 660 litres when it is full of passengers.
