A new AWD system for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid unveiled earlier this month will become the first hybrid compact vehicle in its class to offer an available all-wheel drive system.  The new Corolla Hybrid which is expected later this year will also get an improved and more powerful hybrid powertrain as well as significantly improved technology.

But we start with the big news. The addition of a new AWD system for the 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid means that owners will enjoy all of the benefits and the efficiency gains of the Corolla Hybrid engine with the traction and stability that only all-wheel drive can provide. You will not find another hybrid vehicle in this class or anywhere near it with AWD.

Toyota also announced that the Corolla Hybrid would offer more power and improved efficiency. It will continue to be powered by a hybrid engine that pairs a 1.8 L Atkinson cycle 4 cylinder with two motor generators and a continuously variable transmission. There is also a new lithium-ion battery now located under the rear seat which means a lower centre of gravity and more cargo capacity.

The 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid also gets all of the improvements made to the 2023 Corolla line up overall.

These include:

  • New 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia system standard on all Corolla models
  • New Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of active safety technologies
  • New front and rear styling
  • More powerful 169-horsepower engine
  • New colours

The new Toyota multimedia system is one of the highlights of the new 2023 Corolla lineup. This new system offers a range of benefits that include advanced voice command capability which allows the owner to change settings and adjust climate controls all using voice controls. Moreover, the 2023 Corolla’s infotainment system features other advanced capability such as over-the-air updates, Cloud navigation, Destination Assist and more.
