New 2023 Toyota Highlander gets brand-new turbocharged four-cylinder engine

For the 2023 model-year, the Toyota Highlander will receive a significant upgrade under the hood with a new 2.4 L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers an impressive 265 hp with 310 pound-feet of torque. This engine will replace the previous 3.5 L V-6.

A Brand-New Engine with Better Performance

The new turbo four-cylinder engine will offer 17% more torque than the outgoing V-6. This will translate into quicker accelerations and more dynamic performance in every situation. Moreover, the new four-cylinder turbo will average 9.8 L per 100 km in combined fuel consumption. This is the same fuel consumption rating of the previous V-6 which had significantly less torque and performance. The new turbo engine is also much more eco-friendly with over 50% less pollution as well as an improvement in CO2 emissions.

The towing capacity remains the same at 5,000 pounds and users will be able to take advantage of the Trailer Sway Control system to help control the stability of the trailer.

The 2023 Toyota Highlander also gets improvements to its infotainment system with a new 12.3-inch dual screen system for the Toyota Highlander Limited and Toyota Highlander Platinum. A 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster joins a 12.3-inch multi-information display centre screen. The Toyota Highlander will also feature the new and improved Toyota multimedia system with advanced voice commands as well as new displays and functionality. This new infotainment system offers a range of added functionality including the “Hey Toyota” voice command which allows users to control the system through natural voice interactions to make life aboard easier. The new infotainment system can be updated through over-the-air updates to ensure the latest functions and capabilities.

Other improvements include new power folding mirrors on Limited and Platinum trims as well as a hands-free power liftgate now available on more versions.

The 2023 Toyota Highlander will continue to offer impressive interior versatility with 453 L of cargo space with all three rows in place and a maximum of 2,387 L with all rows folded. The Toyota Highlander can welcome seven or eight passengers depending on the version.

The 2023 Toyota Highlander hybrid remains on the menu with an impressive 6.7 L per 100 km fuel consumption and every 2023 Toyota Highlander also gets the advanced Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite of active safety technologies. Give us a call today to learn more.
