Toyota RAV4 remains one of the best-selling vehicles in Canada, Corolla is best-selling car

With over 200,000 vehicles sold in 2022, Toyota continued as one of the top brands in Canada despite a range of supply and production issues that continued to plague the entire automotive industry. Toyota Canada saw strong sales throughout December and the fourth quarter, allowing them to reach this number despite the many difficulties car companies have faced this year due to global disruptions. This is a testament to TCI's commitment to providing quality vehicles for Canadians and is certainly something to be celebrated.

Nearly 10% growth for Toyota Canada sales in December

TCI had a very successful fourth quarter, with sales increasing 9.5% compared to the same period in 2021. This impressive quarter pushed TCI’s sales numbers beyond 200,204 units - an impressive result given the current conditions.

Toyota electrified vehicles remain as popular as ever

Toyota electrified vehicles continued to shine, selling an impressive 41,987 units in 2022. Overall Toyota Canada’s electric vehicles accounted for 25.9% of their total vehicle sales. Toyota offers a range of hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric vehicles, and has become the benchmark when it comes to electrifying a vehicle lineup. With their impressive efficiency that doesn’t compromise versatility or reliability, models like the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid, Toyota Highlander Hybrid, and Toyota Prius continued to showcase Toyota’s advanced hybrid powertrain.

The Toyota RAV4 is the best-selling non-truck vehicle in Canada

With 55,921 units sold in 2022, the Toyota RAV4 held on to its enviable position of being the best-selling non-truck vehicle in Canada. That means the RAV4 is more popular than any sedan or any SUV on sale today, regardless of segment. Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla sold 33,096 units - becoming Canada's best-selling car. This exceptional achievement is due in part to the Corolla’s remarkable number of available trims and models including a hybrid version. The Corolla family truly has a model for every need.

The Corolla Cross and Toyota Tundra pickup were two other success stories for Toyota in 2022. The Corolla Cross had a remarkable first full year of sales, selling 9,263 units Meanwhile, the Toyota Tundra sold 11,561 units - its second-best year ever - providing Canadians with a reliable and dependable pickup truck option.
