Toyota Unveils 2025 GR Corolla with New Automatic Transmission Option

For 2025, Toyota unveils an upgraded GR Corolla, now offering a cutting-edge 8-speed Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT) alongside its proven 6-speed manual gearbox. This performance-focused hatchback receives a boost in engine torque, aerodynamic enhancements, and state-of-the-art technology upgrades. Driving enthusiasts can experience this refined hot hatch starting at $47,915.


The new GAZOO Racing DAT with paddle shifters aims to improve gear shifting and overall driver experience. Its software is designed to anticipate optimal gear shifts based on driver input, enhancing performance. The transmission was rigorously tested on global racing tracks and rally environments to ensure top-notch performance.


Under the hood, the GR Corolla retains its 1.6-litre 3-cylinder turbo engine, now delivering 300 horsepower and an increased torque of 295 lb.-ft. The automatic transmission models feature launch control for faster acceleration, along with an automatic transmission fluid cooler and optional sub-radiator to maintain optimal performance.


Suspension improvements include rebound springs and a higher rear axle point, enhancing traction and acceleration stability. The GR-FOUR All-Wheel-Drive system continues to offer selectable modes for various driving conditions.


Exterior updates focus on improved cooling and aerodynamics, with a redesigned front bumper accommodating multiple cooling components. Brake ducts have been refined for efficient airflow and reduced tire turbulence. The vehicle maintains its low centre of gravity with 18-inch wheels and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires.


Inside, the GR Corolla sports a dark, sporty interior with new trims, an 8-inch digital gauge cluster, and enhanced technology integration. Exterior colour options include Black, White, Heavy Metal, and premium paint colours like Supersonic Red.


The 2025 GR Corolla comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, offering comprehensive safety features such as Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Road Sign Assist. Additional supports include Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams.


Available in three trims - Core M/T, Premium M/T, and Premium DAT - pricing ranges from $47,915 for the Core M/T to $58,137 for the Premium DAT. Each model offers varying features to cater to different preferences.
