We've moved the clock forward and the days are getting longer, and you can feel that spring is just around the corner. That means that it is time to start talking about summer tires.
When is it the best time to install summer tires?
The answer to this question depends mainly on one factor: the temperature outside. A summer tire performs at its best when the temperature is above 7°C. Below that temperature, the tire rubber hardens, which reduces grip and increases braking distances.
You should also consider the likelihood of another snowstorm occurring in the last two weeks of March or in April. Depending on the region, such a scenario is certainly plausible.
Studies have shown that the average temperature in Ontario doesn’t go above 7 degrees until early April. Moreover, Ontario gets a snowstorm in April once every three months on average.
Taking these factors into account, it is better to wait until April to install summer tires on your vehicle. March is simply too unpredictable for the weather.
Why install your summer tires at Whitby Toyota?
Even if it's wise to wait a few more weeks before installing your summer tires on your Toyota, nothing prevents you from making an appointment with our tire center today.
For starters, this will allow you to avoid the April rush and you'll be able to drive with your summer tires (and wheels!) without having to wait any longer than necessary.
In addition, we can balance the tires and check the alignment and suspension. Winter can play tricks on our vehicle and it's best to make sure everything is in order at the time of installation. We can also store your winter tires until the next season.
Make an appointment with our tire specialist today and have a great summer season!
