The Toyota Grand Highlander already gives big families room to stretch out, with three full rows and a third row that fits adults. For 2027, Toyota is adding a fresh option for families who spend their weekends at campgrounds, trailheads and cottage roads: the Grand Highlander Hybrid Woodland Edition.
The Woodland badge has appeared on other Toyota models, and it always signals a more rugged look and extra gear for active lifestyles. The 2027 Grand Highlander is expected to start arriving at Toyota dealers across Canada later this year. Here is a friendly look at what the Woodland Edition will bring to the family road trip.
The Woodland Edition builds on the Grand Highlander XLE with a set of features aimed at adventure. The biggest changes are underneath. Matte black 18-inch alloy wheels wear All-Terrain tires, and taller springs work with those tires to add 12 mm of ground clearance compared with other Grand Highlander models.
That extra height helps on gravel roads, rutted campground lanes and snowy driveways. The All-Terrain tires add bite on loose surfaces.
The exterior gets a tougher look too. Black badges, black roof rails with cross bars, black mirror caps, a black shark fin antenna and black accent trim around the headlights and windows set the Woodland apart.
Toyota designed the Woodland Edition’s cabin details around real family trips.
A removable Woodland-branded cooler sits between the second-row seats. It holds up to six 355 mL (12-ounce) cans, so cold drinks and snacks stay within reach for the kids. When you do not need it, you can take it out.
The cargo area gets enhanced lighting and a Woodland-branded tray with pop-up dividers. Those dividers help keep groceries, hiking boots and camping gear from sliding around. All-weather floor mats with the Woodland logo help protect the cabin from mud, sand and slush.
There is also a 120V/1,500W power outlet in the rear of the centre console. It can power small devices and gear on the road or at the campsite.
The Woodland Edition seats seven, with second-row captain’s chairs. That layout makes it easy for passengers to walk back to the third row, which offers 851 mm (33.5 in) of legroom and 945 mm (37.2 in) of headroom.
With the rear seats folded flat, cargo space reaches 2,761 litres. Even with all three rows in use, Toyota says the Grand Highlander can carry seven carry-on suitcases.
Every Woodland Edition uses the 2.5 L Hybrid powertrain with all-wheel drive. It produces 245 total system horsepower. Toyota estimates fuel use at 7.0 L/100 km combined, and the Woodland Edition is rated to tow 3,500 lbs (1,588 kg).
That efficiency matters on long drives to the lake or the ski hill. Fewer fuel stops mean more time where you want to be.
Woodland buyers also get the well-equipped XLE base. Standard features include:
Digital Key capability is also included, with an active Remote Connect trial or subscription.
The Woodland Edition comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. The suite includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Road Sign Assist, Automatic High Beams and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Safe Exit Alert are standard too.
For 2027, the Grand Highlander comes in four grades across three powertrains, all with all-wheel drive in Canada:
