The 2026 Toyota Sequoia lineup is narrower than most buyers expect. Every single grade runs the same powertrain — a 3.4 L twin-turbo V6 hybrid generating 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission with on-demand 4WD. What separates the four retail grades is not how the Sequoia performs, but how it is equipped, styled, and suspended. For Ontario buyers comparing grades at Whitby Toyota, here is exactly what each step of the ladder adds and why it matters.
The Sequoia seats up to eight passengers on bench-configured grades (SR5 TRD Off Road and Limited) and seven on captain's chair grades (Platinum and Capstone). All models tow between 8,979 lbs (4,073 kg) and 9,121 lbs (4,137 kg) depending on grade, and every grade includes a trailer brake controller, heavy-duty tow hitch receiver, and Hill-start Assist Control as standard.
The 2026 Sequoia SR5 TRD Off Road is the entry point for the lineup and does not feel like one. This eight-passenger model ships with Toyota's full off-road hardware suite: 18-inch TRD Off Road alloy wheels, TRD Off Road shock absorbers, a locking rear differential, Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Monitor, Downhill Assist Control, and Crawl Control. New for 2026, full leather upholstery is standard on this grade — a meaningful upgrade from the outgoing model year.
Technology starts at a useful level here. An 8-inch Toyota Multimedia touchscreen provides wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Sirius XM, Bluetooth, and connected services (Safety Connect, Service Connect, Remote Connect). Other standard features include the Toyota Smart Key System with Push Button Start, a power back door with kick sensor, heated front seats, 3-zone automatic climate control, Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Brake, and Intuitive Parking Assist with Auto Braking.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard on all grades — covering pre-collision braking, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beam, and left/right turn pedestrian detection.
The Limited grade pivots from trail-oriented to premium-oriented. Its most recognizable configuration is the Limited Nightshade Edition — a limited production model with 20-inch black alloy wheels and a full blackout appearance package: semi-gloss black grille, black overfenders, rear bumper, roof rack, gloss black belt moulding, door handles, 4x4 badge, and rear lower door valance.
Under the exterior changes, the Limited brings a notable interior step up: a 14-inch Toyota Multimedia touchscreen with the full connected services suite including Drive Connect, a panoramic moonroof, driver's seat memory system, heated and ventilated front seats, a wireless charging dock, and the Toyota Panoramic View Monitor system. Seating remains at eight passengers.
The locking rear differential on the SR5 TRD Off Road is listed as available (not standard) on the Limited in the optional TRD Pro package — buyers who want both the premium interior and off-road capability can optionally spec TRD Pro hardware through a package upgrade.
The TRD Pro is a package built on the Limited grade, not a standalone retail grade. It brings the Sequoia's most capable off-road suspension: a TRD Pro setup with 1.1-inch front lift using 2.5-inch FOX Internal Bypass coil-overs and rear remote-reservoir shocks, TRD Pro front stabilizer bar, TRD Pro triple beam LED headlamps, the Heritage TOYOTA grille with LED light bar, TRD skid plate, 18-inch TRD Pro black forged BBS wheels, exterior amber marker lights, smoked headlamps and foglamps, sequential LED tail lamps, and Multi-Terrain Select with Crawl Control. Inside, the TRD Pro adds SofTex seats with TRD Pro logo inserts, a TRD shift knob, and a 14-speaker JBL audio system. For 2026, TRD Pro is available in the new exclusive Wave Maker colour.
The Platinum is the first grade to switch to captain's chairs for seven-passenger seating. It brings the Sequoia's full luxury and capability package: 20-inch dark-grey painted alloy wheels, premium triple-beam LED headlamps, sequential LED tail lamps, power running boards, 14-speaker JBL audio, Panoramic View Monitor, ambient lighting, a digital rearview mirror, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, front row massage seats, leather upholstery, driver's seat memory system, rain-sensing wipers, a power tilt and telescoping steering column, active noise control, and a five-mode Drive Mode Select system.
Where the Platinum distinguishes itself most from the Limited is in suspension: it carries the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS) system and load-levelling rear height control air suspension as standard — hardware designed specifically for controlled towing dynamics. The Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist is also standard from this grade up.

The Capstone takes the Platinum's full feature set and adds the Sequoia's most distinctive finishes. Twenty-two-inch dark chrome and machine-finished alloy wheels, unique chrome exterior accents, and real walnut wood cabin trim visually separate this grade at first glance. Semi-aniline leather-trimmed seating, front side acoustic glass, and a backlit CAPSTONE passenger-side instrument panel badge round out the interior. New for 2026, the Capstone is offered in a Shale interior colour scheme.
The Capstone retains the Platinum's suspension hardware, three-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front and rear seats, massage seats, head-up display, ambient lighting, digital rearview mirror, 14-speaker JBL audio, Trailer Backup Guide with Straight Path Assist, and power running boards. For buyers who want the Sequoia's luxury ceiling with the same underlying capability, this is the grade to evaluate.
Whether you are prioritising off-road hardware, luxury appointments, or the suspension technology for regular towing, there is a Sequoia configuration for every use. The team at Whitby Toyota can walk you through the full lineup in person — come in for a detailed walk-around and see which grade fits how you plan to use your Sequoia in Ontario.
