What is the new Toyota multimedia system

When you step into your new Toyota, it’s impossible to miss: an extra-wide, 14-inch multimedia display that’s the biggest ever seen on a Toyota. It’s swept area is massive, but more than that, it is your hub for a comprehensively re-imagined infotainment system that goes far beyond a large display.

In addition to the size, the touchscreen interface is more responsive than previous, with larger buttons and brighter colours that make navigating the menus that much easier. Overall, the system’s processor is five times more powerful than the older system. It also now allows for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications.

That’s the hardware story; when it comes to software, Toyota’s new Drive Connect suite of apps and programs make for an even more elevated driving experience. Drive Connect features cloud navigation (meaning real-time traffic and construction updates), Intelligent Assistant and Destination Assist.

Destination Assist provides users with 24/7 access to live agents that can help you search for a destination based on everything from a business name to a city and/or province. They can then send coordinates directly to your GPS and have you easily on your way – just press “Go”! If you don’t have a specific business in mind but are looking for recommendations on local points of interests or restaurants, your agent is able to help with that as well.

If you’re looking for an even quicker one stop shop experience, you can go ahead and make use of the “Hey Toyota” voice activation feature to find the nearest bakery or sushi bar. All of the latest, hottest joints can be added to the system via over-the-air updates.

That’s the outward-facing story; when it comes to the inward-facing story, you can look to the Connected Services feature that provides the ability to start your vehicle from your home or office, pre-condition the climate control system so you’re nice and toasty (or nice and cool) as soon as you step into your Toyota and the suite will also perform regular checks on the car to make sure your servicing schedule is up-to-date.

This and a whole lot more awaits you with Toyota Drive Connect, so come pay us a visit to see it all for yourself!
